One of things I have found difficult before is to tell a decent story – for whatever reason. My nature is to dwell on, look for, and rely on data and information about topics, which means, when it comes time to ‘tell a story’, guess what you get? Right – all the critically important data that you must want!!! Ok, well, you might not want it, but hey, there is the challenge.

I was doing some reorganizing of my iPod the other day (love the iPod, hate the iTunes) and when I came across my ‘Best Of’ playlist which contains the best personal and professional development audios I own, when it hit me: all the speakers in my ‘Best Of’ playlist are the best STORY TELLERS of the lot! I have learned more from these few audios than all the others combined.

When I look deeper into it, these particular speakers are always teaching through a story and it is one of the things that I guess I have come to rely on. They manage to tell you an entertaining story, which if nothing else generates thought in the brain. Now I can honestly tell you that it has taken many attempts to actually get through an entire audio simply because the depth of learning from a single point in the story has been so great that the brain checks out and runs off to deal with it. Absolutely fascinating!

So, for the upcoming year, it is now in my life that I will indeed begin to tell more stories going forward. It is new ground for me, but hey, time to give it a shot.
