About
That would be me! My legal first name is William… Now this is where it gets tricky.. Aside from those ever ‘cute’ nicknames that my parents came up with by the hundreds when I was a kid (and for the record I’m taking them to my grave), most people either call me Bill OR Tully.
When I began SCUBA diving back in 2001, the easiest way for people to remember my name was to go by my last name – Tully. When I became an instructor I would simply tell people:
“My name is Bill Tully and feel free to call me Tully because if you’re like most people, you won’t remember Bill.”
Not sure why it works, but it does. So, now, about 50% of the people in my life call me Tully, and the other call me Bill. To emphasize the point, a very good friend of mine has to stop for a second to remember what my first name is…
William, Bill, or just Tully works – your call.

I am the owner of Tully.ca, and author of LOGICal EMOTIONs. If you have not noticed quite yet, LE is not a typical blog. I don’t review technology, I don’t comment about food, fashion, design, raising kids, or what I had for lunch today. I believe that we all have “truths” that we have carried with us which are incorrect. LE is a blog where I can explore ideas which we thought to be true, and through analysis and perspective get a better understanding. Better understandings change beliefs – nothing else.
I call it ‘philosophy for growth’ because I believe that with new or better understandings, we as a whole can grow. Whether this understanding is applied personally or professionally, growth happens, and if we’re growing, we’re not dying. Comments and perspectives are always welcome because this blog is really, only my perspective… I’ve been known to be wrong… I think…
If you are interested, you can have a look at round one of the posts that help define this blog, or the ongoing Best Of list.
Also, there is a small interview here that can shed a bit more light on this blog.
On the personal side of my life, I am married to the greatest woman in the world, Colleen, who means more to me than anything else. We now live in Toronto, Ontario, Canada – kid free, and sadly, dog free also…
I am also an avid SCUBA diver with well over 300 dives in my log. I belong to an organization called the Canadian Harvard Aircraft Association, and more specifically, the Recovery Team which also satisfies my aircraft requirement. I have held the position of Advanced Open Water SCUBA Instructor (now retired), and I have previously held a private pilots license with both a night and float rating.
I hope that has provided a bit of insight into what I’m currently about, and if it doesn’t please do not hesitate to ask. I really never know what to write in these things, but appreciate their value.
Cheers! Tully.
